1. The word ‘gas’ was coined by the 17th century Flemish chemist Jan Baptist van Helmont.

5. Avogadro (1776-1856) was an Italian scientist and count whose full name was Lorenzo Romano Amedeo Carlo Avogadro di Quaregna e di Cerreto.
6. Liquefied petroleum gas (“cooking gas”) is Propane or Butane; Natural gas is mainly Methane.
7. Jupiter and Saturn are gas giants, large planets composed mainly of Hydrogen and Helium.
8. The USA used gas chambers as a method of judicial execution from 1924 to 1967.
9. The gas ammonia got its name from its ritual use by worshippers of the Egyptian god Ammon.
10. Rubber balloons were invented by the physicist Michael Faraday to store the gases in experiments.
